In a continuing effort to share BHOS’s passion with a new generation, every other year BHOS mentors a high school choir. A public school music teacher is selected to coach students during their regular music classes as they learn several selections from BHOS’s upcoming fall program. Rand and/or Al Fedak visit the school to work directly with the students, introducing them to Rand’s conducting style. The students then join the BHOS chorus for the dress orchestral rehearsals and sing with us in concert.
By joining with us the students are provided an opportunity to sing with another conductor, to perform with professional soloists, and to experience the richness of presenting with a community of adults. We members of BHOS greatly benefit not only from sharing our love of music but from performing with these excellent and enthusiastic young voices.
The Mentor Program is made possible at this time solely through the volunteer efforts and dedication of Rand Reeves and Al Fedak. We rely on our membership and our generous patrons for the financial support necessary to continue these generous gifts from Rand and Al!
