Membership in BHOS is open to singers without audition. Our mission of excellence in presenting public performances of choral masterworks is achieved with a couple of key ingredients. They include:

Membership Fee
A concert fee in very small part offsets the considerable cost of staging serious choral works. Professional orchestras and soloists along with location fees represent some of the costs incurred. The membership fee may vary with each performance season. It is currently $45.00 per concert. The music fee varies with each concert season.

Vocal Scores
BHOS purchases all musical scores and makes them available (at our cost) to our group members for each performance. If a member already owns the score, and if the edition is compatible with the one being used, there’s no requirement to purchase new music. The cost of music varies according to the scope of the individual concert.

Membership Expectations

• Attendance
  Our rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, 88 Lakehill Rd, Burnt Hills, NY 12027. Attendance at a minimum of ten (10) Tuesday rehearsals, and two (2) dress rehearsals the week of the performance is mandatory.
• Concert Dress
  Women: long black skirt or dress pants, long-sleeved white blouse.
  Men: tuxedo OR dark suit, white shirt, black bow tie.
  PLEASE: no perfume, after-shave or glittery jewelry. Note that dress may change, with notice, for a given performance.
• Audience
  A full audience certainly motivates the performers to sing their best. It’s up to each of us to encourage friends, family and co-workers to come out and support our group by purchasing tickets and attending our performances.
